The Indoor Auto Racing three-quarter-midget campaign kicked off with a first-time winner Saturday night at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Massachusetts racer Matt Swanson muscled into the lead on a late-race restart to earn his first victory in the popular indoor racing series.
Swanson’s patience and precision in the closing laps sealed the victory in front of a packed crowd. Starting the 40-lap event in third spot, Swanson was in position to battle for the lead as the laps ticked away.
Following a yellow flag with five laps remaining, Swanson muscled his No. 89 machine past indoor racing kingpin Ryan Flores to take a lead he would never relinquish.
Sprint car driver Briggs Danner won Friday’s preliminary feature.
