Bacon Lands Full-Time Gig With Vermeer Motorsports

MIFFLINTOWN, Pa. — After finishing the final 10 races of this season aboard the Vermeer Motorsports No. 55, team owner Tony Vermeer has signed Brady Bacon as the full-time pilot when they return to High Limit Racing next year.

“After a lengthy meeting, we’ve decided to name Brady Bacon as our driver for 2027. It’s pretty clear that he has the same mentality, the same passion, the same focus, and the same drive as Tye [Wolfgang] and myself…a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude, and that’s what it takes to be successful. A philosophy I not only utilize in racing, but in the business world, as well,” said team owner Tony Vermeer. “Our goal is to not only build our race team bigger and better, but also contend for wins and championships, and with Brady, I know the potential for all of those will be greater.

“The competition is tough, but I’m a firm believer in hard work and a fierce attitude, and applying those will only elevate you to the next level.”

Wolfgang is thrilled to add the four-time USAC sprint car champion to the team.

“His experience and accomplishments speak for themselves. He brings a wealth of knowledge and I’m excited to work with him in building a successful race team,” Tye Wolfgang, Vermeer Motorsports crew chief, added. “His focus and his drive is pretty remarkable…always willing to do whatever it takes to take things to the next level. The 2027 season is going to be something special for Vermeer Motorsports.”

The 36-year-old gasser has already built a career worthy of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame headlined by his four championships and 64 wins with the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series – both of those stats ranking second all-time in the 70-year history of the United States Auto Club.

While the 2027 High Limit campaign will mark his first tour with a winged 410 sprint car, Bacon does have experience chasing winged championships of the 360 variety. From 2010-12, the Oklahoma native was a full-timer on the ASCS National Tour and racked up 12 victories during that span.

With two World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series wins to his credit and his busiest national touring winged 410 campaign being last year with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing (35% of the schedule) at 17 of 48 events, Bacon meets the requirements to be eligible for the 2027 Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie of the Year Award.

“I’m really excited and super grateful for this opportunity,” Brady Bacon was quick to note. “Tony [Vermeer] has surrounded himself with some really good people and I’ve enjoyed working alongside everyone. It’s all about building consistency and we’ve shown we can do that. Our goal is to build on that, win races, and ultimately, contend for a championship.”

“Tye [Wolfgang] and I have communicated well from the start. I’m looking forward to our results as our chemistry continues to grow,” Bacon added. “I want to thank CD Racing and TKH Motorsports for their continued support, and for allowing me the opportunity to pursue a full-time seat with Vermeer Motorsports. I’ve had a lot of great people help me get to this point in my career. When you surround yourself with great people, great things can happen.”

During their 10-race trial to end this season, Bacon drove the No. 55 to a podium finish at Lakeside Speedway and a top-five run at Eldora Speedway.

The team plans to compete with the World of Outlaws at Texarkana 67 Speedway this weekend as they prepare for the 2027 campaign.
