Gravel Shoots Past Sweet In Latest Sprint Rankings

With a pair of runner-up finishes this weekend, David Gravel moved past World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point leader Brad Sweet to hold the lead in the National Sprint Car Rankings.

Gravel boasts an average finish of 3.472 in 68 starts, compared to Sweet’s average finish of 3.5 in 67 races. Sweet, however, picked up his ninth win of the season Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio.

Carson Macedo is third with an average finish of 3.815, while Brent Marks and Rico Abreu, who won Friday’s World of Outlaws feature at Eldora Speedway, round out the top five.

One hundred and 53 drivers have made the 20 starts required to be eligible for the rankings and 898 racers have run a winged 410 sprint car race this season.

Freddie Rahmer holds the top spot in the Eastern region, while Joe B. Miller has a commanding advantage in the Mid-America region.

Cap Henry leads the Great Lakes region, with Mark Dobmeier on top of the Great Plains region.

Corey Day paces the Western, with Trey Starks on top in the Northwest region. A.J. Flick anchors the PA-Ohio region.

One hundred and 53 drivers have combined to win the 444 features run this season. 

Rahmer leads the country with 17 victories.
