Fourteen-year-old Tristan McKee in the No. 28 Spire/Gainbridge/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro set the fastest time, earning his first-career pole award and setting a track record of 1:49.077. McKee currently leads the series point standings, in addition to the Rookie of the Year and Young Gun Award rankings.
“This weekend has gone really well,” said McKee. “We’ve been fastest in almost every session. Huge thanks to my guys; they brought a really, really good car. This track is a lot of fun. It’s more toward my style of driving, so I’m having a lot of fun. I want to thank Scott Speed and Josh Wise for having me prepped really well. We unloaded really fast off the trailer. Thanks to everybody: Spire, Gainbridge, TeamSLR. They just made it all work.”
Nathan Herne qualified second and Carson Brown was third.
Barry Boes (No. 27 Accio Data/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro) was the fastest of the Pro/Am Challenge contenders, qualifying an impressive fourth overall with a time of 1:49.827.
