Shipman Keeps Momentum In Canada

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario — Coming off back-to-back weekend sweeps, Cooper Shipman continued his momentum, pacing qualifying in Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) competition at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

With a fastest lap of 1:19.708, Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) led the session to secure the pole position for tomorrow’s Race 1. MLT Motorsports’ Alex Popow (No. 55 Dr. Michael Thompson MS DDS PPLS / MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422) will start second, while series newcomer Oliver Savoie (No. 88 YXE Auto / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) lines up third, with hopes of securing a podium in his F4 U.S. debut weekend.

With only one practice session this weekend, F4 U.S. drivers took every chance they had to learn the track.

Shipman topped the leaderboard this morning with more than a second advantage. Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) celebrated his 19th birthday by going second fastest in practice.

Ontario’s own Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Kids Help Phone / Camtacc Properties / Legacy Foundation of Canada / LC Racing Ligier JS F422) closed out the top three, just 1.113 seconds off Shipman’s pace.
