DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Greg Durbin Memorial was run Saturday at Davenport Speedway. The featured class was the IMCA Modifieds racing for a $3,000 top prize.
That prize would go home with Cody Laney. Laney took off from the pole position and was hounded by Tony VonDresky and Zane DeVilbiss. Late in the race Tim Ward would make a run at the leader.
Laney led all thirty-eight laps for the win. DeVilbiss would finish second with Ward taking third. Trevor Fitz drove from seventh to fourth in the final two laps. Matt Werner raced from the twentieth starting position to finish fifth.
Dylan Thornton blasted out to the early lead in the Karl Chevrolet PRO Late Model feature. Thornton had built a four second lead by lap eight when the race’s first caution flag flew. After the restart, Thornton had a new challenger in Matt Ryan. Dylan would again build up a lead but lapped traffic would again come into play as it did on Friday night.
Ryan would close in on Thorton a couple times, but never got close enough to make a bid for the lead. Thorton would cruise to the victory with Ryan second. Friday’s winner C.J. Horn placed third. Brennen Chipp and Nick Marolf rounded out the top five.
Chad Holladay, Andy Nezworski, and Logan Veloz won the late model heats. Thornton won the six-car dash.
Hunter Longnecker made it back-to-back wins in the AVS Hydro Excavating IMCA SportMods. Kevin Goben chased Longnecker the entire 15 laps, finishing second. Levi Heath came from deep in the field to take third. Brandt Cole and Dakota Cole finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Bradly Graham also made it two in a row in the Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks. Graham battled with Blair Kriegel in the early laps before pulling away for good. Jordan Miles would work his way up to second. Kile Vohringer finished third, followed by Sheldon Hunter and Randy LaMar.
Dan Keltner dominated the IMCA Mod Lite feature. Randy Bryan finished a distant second. Alex Eischeid took third, ahead of Mike Morrow and Grant Anderson
Terry Mattly scored the win in the Midwest Vintage Late Models.
