BARRE, Vt. — Kaiden Fisher claimed top honors in the Maplefield/Irving Late Model main event Sunday afternoon at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl.
The Maplefield/Irving Late Models took on the highbanks under the leadership of Phil Scott and Keegan Lamson. Governor Scott would lead from the drop of the green with Lamson back-tracking, allowing Cooper Bouchard and Jason Corliss to fall in and chase the all-time wins leader.
Corliss began to use the outside lane around Bouchard as the pair grew ever closer to Scott’s rear bumper. Corliss would maintain the outside groove to take the lead on lap 20 just as the first caution flag flew for the spinning Stephen Donahue across the frontstretch.
Two more caution periods continued to leave Corliss in command, with point leader Fisher all over his rear bumper. The final caution on lap 45 set up a fight to the checkered flags with Fisher getting the bumper-length lead on the restart. The 16-year-old Fisher would best three-time champion Jason Corliss with dominance on the outside groove and Marcel Gravel closed out his night in third.
Derek Farnham and Trevor Jacques won street stock features. Taylor Sayers topped the road warrior main event.
