Sawalich Triumphs, Roderick Is World Series Champ

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — William Sawalich but a lid on the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway the same way he began the weeklong series of races — in victory lane.

Sawalich won Saturday night’s Orange Blossom 100 for the super late model division for his second victory of the week.

Taking the lead from Bubba Pollard on lap 90, Sawalich paced the remainder of the 100-lap event to take the victory, while Casey Roderick finished sixth and earned the weeklong super late model championship.

Pollard came home second on Saturday night, with Gabe Sommers, Brad May and Connor Mosack completing the top five.

Bill Burba outlasted Wayne Parker to claim the Florida modified headliner.

Other winners were Paul Koci (super stocks) and Frank Button (Bombers).
