DAVENPORT, Iowa — The last Davenport Speedway stock car race before the Mississippi Valley Fair usually delivers a great show.
The streak continues in The Outhouse / Storage to Go – Late Models. Seven races, seven different winners. Tommy Elston on his first trip to Davenport this season put his ride into victory lane.
Jesse Bobin led the first ten laps of the feature before yielding to Travis Denning. Denning’s lead was short-lived as Elston took the top spot on lap 13. Elston, who started 12th, led the rest of the way to the checkers.
Blaise Lewis moved up late in the race to finish second. Denning held on for third. Logan Veloz and Cruz Birkhofer completed the top five.
Spencer Diercks posted win number four in the Midwest Recyclers / Del’s Metal Co. – IMCA Modifieds. Diercks started eighth in the main and had to dice his way through heavy traffic. Spencer passed Eric Barnes for the lead and finished with a two second lead at the checkered flag. Barnes took second followed by Matt Werner, Shane Paris, and Brandon Durbin, in that order.
Cary Brown scored his first Koehler Electric – Street Stock feature of the season. Brown grabbed the lead on lap nine of the 15-lapper. Tony Von Dresky took second. Scotty Pratt, Austin Riggs, and Jesse Owen were third through fifth, respectively.
The Freds Towing / Cantrell Towing / QC Towing – IMCA SportMods saw a rash of cautions in their feature. Ben Chapman survived the chaos to secure his second straight win in the SportMod class. Chapman led the final nine laps for the win. New faces Trevor Noonan, Owen Wilcox, and Hudson Morris finished second, third and fourth. Nick Hixson rounded out the top five.
Ben Chapman took home his second trophy of the night in the D & K Home Products – IMCA Stock Car feature. Chapman had to work his way through Jacob Ellithorpe, David Brandies, and Kodey Miles to take the lead. Miles had led a majority of the race before finishing second. Ellithorpe got around Brandies late in the race for third. Jeremy Gustaf rounded out the top five.
The Wangelin’s Auto – IMCA Hobby Stocks were the only class to go caution-free in their feature. Karter Miles racked up feature win number five on the season.
Miles led every lap after starting in the sixth position. Randy LaMar was able to close in on the winner, but was unable to mount a bid for the lead. Carson Butt drove from a fifth row start to take third. Josh Starr was fourth followed by Christian Jordan.
