MALTA, N.Y. — Howard Commander, owner of the famed Albany-Saratoga Speedway, announced that Marcy Mangino DeVore and Pete Scully have been charged with the management of Albany- Saratoga Speedway for the 2026 racing season.
Commander, known throughout the country for his success as a race track promoter, initially leased Albany-Saratoga Speedway in 2012. Two years later, in 2014, he bought the speedway.
At the time the track was leased, Lyle DeVore was working as Commander’s assistant at Lebanon Valley Speedway (NY). When the gates opened in 2012 under Commander’s lease, it was with DeVore as the newly appointed manager and promoter of Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
Putting his many marketing and management skills to work, DeVore quickly adapted to his new role and led the speedway to its current position as a nationally recognized dirt track. This was the dream come true for DeVore, who aspired to be known as one of the leading promoters in the country.
DeVore was committed to being the best there is in the dirt racing industry, and it was in 2022 that he was recognized by his peers as the ARPY 2022 Promoter of the Year.
Sadly, Lyle DeVore passed in December 2025, after a hard-fought, four-year battle with cancer.
On the appointment of Marcy DeVore and Pete Scully to fill Lyle’s leadership role, Commander said, “Marcy and Pete will be managing the track for 2026.” He went on to state, “…they have been doing the job alongside Lyle for years and doing it well. They know what needs to be done.”
Marcy, Lyle’s widow, and Pete have been associated with Albany-Saratoga since opening day in 2012 and worked together with Lyle to build a track envied by others for its ability to draw exceptional car counts and fan support every week.
Marcy DeVore worked behind the scenes, managing the myriad of tasks needed to open the gates on a Friday night. Pete Scully managed the maintenance of the facility and served as its financial manager.
They will continue in their respective roles, aided by a team of returning track employees, race teams, and sponsors, all of whom are dedicated to carrying forward the legacy built by Lyle.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming back everyone who supported Albany-Saratoga. Pete and I are committed to carrying on my husband’s legacy and the plans he had already started for 2026,” said Marcy DeVore. “Lyle truly appreciated everyone who walked through the front gates. There wasn’t a day throughout the year he didn’t commit 24/7 to making Albany-Saratoga the racetrack everyone wants to come to.”
Marcy and Pete are currently developing the 2026 race event schedule, talking with sponsors and teams, and planning for the 61 st annual season opener on Friday, April 17, 2026, a Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified event.
Pete Scully misses his friend and colleague. “I worked with Lyle when he started working for Howie at Lebanon Valley Speedway. This was long before he became the A-S promoter,” said Scully. “We all miss him. He taught us well and had mapped out a plan for 2026 that we intend to follow to keep A-S the number one dirt track in New York and one of the premier dirt tracks in the nation.”
