Lafayette Is Big Winner In Stafford Return

STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Stafford Speedway returned to feature racing action with the Limited Late Model division taking center stage with the Riley Generators Limited Late Model 30 on Friday.

Jason Lafayette was the big winner of the night, scoring his first Limited Late Model win at Stafford in the biggest race of the season.

Lafayette’s victory also scored him a generator courtesy of Dan Riley and Riley Generators.

Adrien Paradis, III took the early lead with Jeremy Lavoie, Jason Lafayette, Matt Clement, and RJ Surdell all lined up behind him.  Lavoie took a look to the inside of Paradis on lap-3 but couldn’t make a pass.  Lavoie was able to make a move for the lead on the following lap and he powered his way past Paradis in turn 4 to take over the lead.  Lafayette followed Lavoie by Paradis to take second and Clement took third.  Surdell took fourth on lap-6 to drop Paradis back to fifth after leading the first three laps of the race.

With 10 laps complete, it was still Lavoie in the lead with Lafayette right behind him in second.  Matt Clement was third with Surdell fourth and Kevin Cormier up to fifth.  Devon Jencik spun in turn 1 to bring the caution flag out with 12 laps complete.

The field completed one lap with Lavoie back in the lead before the caution came back out for Surdell, who spun coming down the frontstretch while behind him, Gary Patnode had a near spin coming out of turn 4.

The restart saw Cormier spin in turn 3 and collect the cars of Rich Hammann and Samantha Dell to bring the yellow flag back out before a lap could be completed.

Lafayette took over the race lead back under green with Lavoie slotting into second.  Matt Clement was still third with Hamman back up to fourth and Matthew Winter, II up to fifth.  With 10 laps to go the order was still the same with Lafayette leading Lavoie, Clement, Hammann, and Winter.  Gary Patnode spun coming down the frontstretch to bring the caution flag out with 20 laps complete.

Lafayette took the lead on the restart with Clement taking second.  Kyle Theriault worked his way into third with Winter fourth and Lavoie falling back to fifth.  Dell spun in turn 4 to bring the caution back out with 22 laps complete.

Lafayette took the lead on the next restart with Theriault taking second.  As Theriault was taking second, Winter  and Clement touched which sent Clement up the track and into turn 2 wall to bring the caution back out with 23 laps complete.

A melee erupted on the restart with Cormier going 3-wide with Theriault and Lafayette and Cormier taking the lead.  Lafayette fell back several spots but when the cars hit turn 3, Theriault and Cormier touched with Cormier going around to bring the caution flag out. Because the field never completed a lap, Lafayette was able to restart back in the lead.

Lafayette took the lead with Hammann taking second.  Darryl Vertefeuille spun in turn 3 as did Jason Raymond to bring the caution flag back out with 25 laps complete.

Lafayette took the lead back under green with Travis Hydar moving into second.  Hammann was third with Surdell fourth and Lavoie fifth.  Hydar was applying heavy pressure to Lafayette for the lead but Lafayette was able to maintain the lead.  Hydar couldn’t get close enough to Lafayette to make a bid for the lead as Lafayette took down the checkered flag for his first win of the 2025 season.  Hydar finished second with Hammann, Surdell, and Lavoie rounding out the top five.

Alexander Pearl was a first-time winner in the SK Modified® feature after a tight duel with Steven Chapman and Wesley Prucker, Chris Meyer was a first time 2025 winner in the Late Model feature, Nick Anglace was a first time 2025 winner in the SK Light feature, and Aaron Plemons won for the fourth time this season in the Street Stock feature.
