Flinner Flies At Hidden Valley

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — Pittsburgh’s Colton Flinner made the tow to Hidden Valley Speedway Saturday night for the Halloween Madness event a profitable one, as he picked up the $3,500 winners share.

Colton Flinner and Matt Martin led the Super Late Models to Sam McClellan’s green flag, with Flinner taking the lead and setting the pace, but Martin was on his bumper and Doug Eck was chasing Martin. Working the eighth lap, Martin had a tire go down while fighting for second, causing him to spin in turn two and end up pitting to get a new sneaker on. He was able to return to the field before the green waved.

The restart saw Flinner still setting the pace with Eck now in second and Joey Petyak in third, and the fans were watching 11th place starter Levi Yetter, who was slowly working his way towards the front, he was up to sixth by the ninth lap, and he was picking up spots one at a time, as he continued to climb to the top five.

As Flinner led, Yetter was coming he passed Brad Benton on lap 15 for fifth, a lap later he passed Mike Paronish for fourth, then he began to work on Petyak, passing him on lap18, he continued his climb towards to front, passing Eck on lap 22, then Eck dropped out, and caused a caution.

On that restart, Flinner had Yetter in second, and Yetter was breathing down his neck, as the race resumed, Flinner led, but Yetter was right there, trying the low side, but Flinner held on, several times the final five laps, Yetter would pull along side of Flinner, but Flinner held tough and passed under the double checkered flags first for his first win in the Halloween event.
