CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — Night four of the IMCA TV Winter Nationals at Central Arizona Raceway matched Friday’s 242-car count and produced some new winners.
The modified main started with three-time winner Dylan Thornton in 14th as he finished second in his heat. Chaz Baca won his heat and drew three for the main lineup.
Baca made use of his position and quickly took the lead. Ethan Braaksma applied pressure and heavy traffic faced Baca. He handled traffic smoothly and a possible tight finish was erased by a yellow.
A late restart gave Baca a couple of clear laps to take the win and Kollin Hibdon got past Braaksma to collect second.
Shelby Williams conquered the flock of stock cars racing for the win to lead the last few laps and take the checkers. Five or more drivers raced in the lead group in an example of classic IMCA stock car racing.
Northern sport mods had Matthew Frazier lead three laps until Eric Winemiller used a turn four pass to take over.
Winemiller raced Trevor Noonan side by side for a while until he pulled away to get the win. Troy Speten took second over Noonan.
Hobby stock racing kept the win in the Olmstead family. Morgan led the distance for his win to join the pair of Zach wins.
Dillion Raffurty made it three out of four in the mod lite class on the division’s final appearance.
The next action is Tuesday with the Gene Freeman Memorial Pit Crew Challenge followed by a practice session.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
