WEEDSPORT, N.Y. — Tyler Dippel is no stranger to Super DIRTcar Series events.
But after more than a decade racing across the Northeast, he’ll take on a new challenge in his Big Block Modified career—a full-time run with the Beasts of the Northeast.
The Walkill, N.Y., driver has joined the Series as the second MD3 Rookie of the Year contender in 2026, a decision that he said was easy to make.
“I just wanted to race more,” Dippel said. “They’re fun races. Long races. And they’re against the quality guys. It’s the route I want to take this year.”
Despite how long he’s been racing, there’s still going to be a learning curve for Dippel this season. He hasn’t run a full season since 2021, which means he’ll need time to get acclimated to racing against his Series competitors.
“Everybody gets better every year,” Dippel said. “It’s getting your stuff tuned in. Anywhere you go, the top five and top 10 on the Series are stout. You have to be right on it. As soon as we dial ourselves in, I don’t think it’ll be a problem anywhere we go. I just think we have to get our baseline back, and I think we can be competitive.”
Even with a part-time schedule, one of the events he’s been successful at throughout his career is the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 during Super DIRT Week at Oswego Speedway. In five starts at Oswego, Dippel has two top 10s in the event, an eighth in 2021, and a sixth in 2022.
However, he narrowly missed out on a win at “Racing’s Biggest Party” in 2021, taking the lead briefly before suffering a suspension failure with 50 laps to go, forcing him to make a pitstop. Being in contention has Dippel confident he’ll have a chance to win this October, especially after running a full season on the Super DIRTcar Series.
“I think it’s going to be huge running with these guys all year,” Dippel said. “I think our setup will be better. It seems like the 200 lappers, Eastern States, Super DIRT Week, and Fonda, I’ve been so close to all three of them. Hopefully, this is the year we can snag one of them.”
