BROCKVILLE, Ontario — After an exciting finish at Super DIRT Week 54, the Super DIRTcar Series is preparing for its final Canada visit of 2026.
The Beasts of the Northeast will kick off Brockville Ontario Speedway’s Fall Nationals on Friday, Oct. 16, with a 100-lap feature paying $10,000-to-win.
Joining the Big Block Modifieds will be the DIRTcar Sportsman Series finale and the track’s Vintage division.
Master of Consistency
After 17 consecutive Super DIRTcar Series top 10 finishes, Alex Yankowski is closing in on series history.
If the Covington Township, Pa., driver can hold onto his 96-point lead over Mat Williamson through the next five races, he’ll become the youngest Super DIRTcar Series champion at age 22. “Kid Rocket” has made two starts at the three-eighths-mile track, finishing fifth and 10th.
Williamson, meanwhile, is the defending winner of Brockville’s Fall Nationals and added a DIRTcar 358 Modified Series victory last year to sweep the weekend.
In 25 starts at the “BOS,” the St. Catharines, Ontario, driver has six wins, 16 top fives, and 20 top 10s.
If he wins on Friday, he’ll become the seventh driver to win 40 Super DIRTcar Series features.
Here Comes The Payne
Over the past three Super DIRT Series events at Brockville, no one has been better than Alex Payne. The Hopewell, N.Y., driver has never finished worse than second at the track, which includes his first series win in 2024 and another victory last year.
Payne enters the weekend third in the standings, 68 points behind Williamson for second.
A win by the “Slide Job Express” this weekend would be his third win at Brockville, his second of 2026, and sixth career win.
Aiming For The Podium
Behind Payne, Jimmy Phelps and Jack Lehner are both within striking distance of reaching the Super DIRTcar Series podium.
Phelps, from Baldwinsville, N.Y., enters the weekend 20 points behind Payne after finishing fourth in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200. Since the series returned to Brockville after a four-year hiatus in 2024, Phelps hasn’t finished outside the top 10, with back-to-back fifths in 2023 and 2024. He finished ninth in last year’s Fall Nationals.
His best finish at Brockville is a second, which he earned in 2008.
Lehner, meanwhile, has only finished outside the top 10 once in five starts at the track, including a fifth in last year’s Fall Nationals. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., driver also narrowly missed out on his first Super DIRTcar Series win in 2019, when he led most of the race before ultimately finishing fifth.
The “Ginga Ninja” is searching for his first series victory and enters the weekend eight points behind Phelps for fourth.
Consistency
After his top five finish at Super DIRT Week, Felix Roy has moved into sixth in the standings — 11 points ahead of 10-time champion Matt Sheppard.
Roy, from Napierville, Quebec, has found success at Brockville before. “Hollywood” led the first eight laps of last year’s Super DIRTcar Series feature during Fall Nationals, before finishing 11th. He backed that up with a second-place finish in the DIRTcar 358 Modified finale.
He’s searching for his first career Super DIRTcar Series win.
Despite narrowly missing out on his fourth Billy Whittaker Cars 200 victory last weekend, Sheppard’s 23rd-place finish dropped him to seventh in the standings with five races to go.
The Savannah, N.Y., driver has been the most consistent driver at Brockville over the past decade, earning a top five in seven of his last eight starts, along with six podiums and a win in 2019.
“Super Matt” is aiming for his 104th series victory.
