MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Dylan Thornton was declared the winner of Friday night’s Dale DeFrance Memorial for the Malvern Bank East Series dirt late models.
Dallon Murty and Thornton battled for the lead throughout the 30-lap event Murty held the lead when he had contact with a lapped car at the start of lap 30 as rain began to fall.
After a delay, officials declared Thornton the winner of the $4,544 prize.
Jesse Sobbing, Chad Simpson, Jeff Tharp and Andy Eckrich completed the top five.
