Friesen Flies In Delaware STSS Run

DELMAR, Del. — Stewart Friesen won Wednesday night’s Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series modified feature at Delaware International Speedway.

Friesen started fourth and drove his No. 44 to the lead early en route to winning the 50-lap main event.

The event was postponed by 24 hours after rain moved through the area on its scheduled Tuesday date.

“It had a Chili Bowl feel to it. The top started out slimy, but once it cleaned off the first guy up there to make it work had a good shot and fortunately it was us tonight after the redraw,” Friesen said.

Friesen earned $5,700 for the victory, his 34th with the series.

Michael Maresca finished second, with Jordan Watson, Matt Sheppard and Ryan Godown rounding out the top five.

Nick Van Wickle topped the crate 602 sportsman main event.
