PENSACOLA, Fla. — Veteran racer Preston Peltier won the pole for Sunday’s 58th running of the Snowball Derby super late model race at Five Flags Speedway.
Delayed a day by rain, qualifying was held on Saturday evening.
Peltier turned a best lap of 16.240 seconds on the half-mile asphalt oval. It his second (2017) Snowball Derby pole.
“I’m old, but I’m still fast,” Peltier told FloRacing. “I just wanted to give it one more try, and here we are. I can promise you the car is better than me.”
Ty Majeski, the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, qualified second.
Hudson Bulger, Jake Finch and Spencer Davis rounded out the top five.
Two-Time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch won the 25-lap last chance race to transfer into the Snowball Derby field.
