LACAMA, N.C. — Two-time Thanksgiving Classic winner Matt McCall is one of the most successful drivers in Southern National Motorsports Park history, and his success and contributions will be solidified during the Thanksgiving Classic.
The Matt McCall Grandstand will be officially dedicated as part of the festivities leading up to Sunday’s 250-lap Late Model Stock Car race.
McCall is currently the Director of Vehicle Performance at Spire Motorsports and was a crew chief prior to that at RFK Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing.
“It’s a great honor to have my name become part of the Southern National Motorsports Park legacy,” McCall said. “I appreciate this kind gesture from Southern National and the Diaz family. I have run many laps here over the years and now, my name will be here for years to come.”
McCall has four wins as a NASCAR Cup Series crew chief, three with 2004 series champion Kurt Busch and one with 2011 series champion Brad Keselowski. He picked up back-to-back wins in the Thanksgiving Classic in 2017 and 2018.
Along with his success at Southern National and in NASCAR, McCall won two championships in the UARA-STARS series, which was a Late Model Stock Car touring division that predated the CARS Tour.
Four-time track champions Deac McCaskill and Jamey Caudill both had grandstands named after them in 2021.
The 25th Thanksgiving Classic will take place from Friday, November 28 through Sunday, November 30.
