WOODFORD, Va. — Race fans can look forward to a perfect afternoon of short-track action as the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour heads to Dominion Raceway for a Sunday matinee event on April 26, following a schedule adjustment from the originally planned Saturday, April 25 date.
The change was made by Track Enterprises, promoter of the event, as well as MDM Promotions owner Marty Melo to avoid overlapping with the CARS Tour race scheduled for the same weekend.
The move allows fans, teams, and competitors to enjoy two marquee racing events without conflict while setting the stage for a family-friendly Sunday afternoon show.
With championship points on the line, the nation’s top late model drivers will take center stage at Dominion Raceway, delivering door-to-door racing and high-speed excitement under the Virginia sun. The Sunday matinee format provides the perfect opportunity for fans of all ages to experience elite short-track racing and still be home in time for the evening.
“Moving the event to Sunday afternoon allows us to showcase the ASA STARS National Tour without competing with another major event in the area,” Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent said. “It creates a great atmosphere for fans and highlights everything that makes short-track racing special.”
Saturday will now be a Practice Day for the teams. The action ramps up on Sunday afternoon, highlighted by Hamke Pole Qualifying, an on track Autograph Session, the ASA STARS National Tour Main event and the day will culminate with the Legend Car Main Event. Additional event information, including times and ticket details, will be released in the coming weeks.
