Trevor Catalano Fights Off Ron Silk For Monadock Victory

WINCHESTER, N.H. — In a thrilling late-race battle, young Trevor Catalano fought off veteran Ron Silk to record his first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory at Monadnock Speedway. Trevor is the youngest of three Catalano brothers: Tommy (9th) and Tyler (15th).

Trevor took the lead for the first time on lap 195 of 250 and led the rest of the way after qualifying fifth.

Silk ended up finishing 0.254 seconds behind Trevor Catalano around the quarter-mile circuit, leading a race-high 99 laps. Patrick Emerling — who also runs part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series — finished third with Matt Hirshman and Kyle Bonsignore rounding out the top five. Justin Bonsignore finished seventh and Austin Beers came home 10th.

Thirteen of the 21 cars finished on the lead lap. The average speed was 53.204 mph and the race took 1 hour, 10 minutes.

Silk leads Justin Bonsignore by eight in driver’s points with eight races remaining in the season.

The series returns on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Lancaster Motorplex in Lancaster, N.Y. — just outside Buffalo.
