ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Rockingham Speedway is for sale.
A little more than a month after the track returned to the NASCAR fray by hosting the Craftsman Truck Series and Xfinity Series on back-to-back days over the Easter weekend, the historic race track has been listed by CBRE Group, a commercial real estate firm.
Under the direction of Rockingham Properties headman Dan Lovenheim, who bought the track in 2018 for $2.8 million, the track received more than $10 million in grants from the North Carolina General Assembly and made numerous improvements to the facility.
“We’ve basically taken it in first gear as far as we can go, building it out, getting it ready for bigger and better hands,” Lovenheim told The Charlotte Observer. “And the time is right to pass the baton to someone who can take it further than we can.”
