Larson Nips Bell For O’Reilly Series Pole

DARLINGTON, S.C. — Kyle Larson won the pole for Saturday’s Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help a Hero 200 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Darlington Raceway.

Driving the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, Larson turned a lap of 29.994 seconds at 163.953 mph to earn the ninth pole of his career in the series.

He outran fellow NASCAR Cup Series regular Christopher Bell, who qualified second in the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, by a mere .047 seconds on the unique 1.33-mile race track.

Carson Kvapil and Justin Allgaier will share the second row in JR Motorsports Chevrolets, while Parker Retzlaff starts fifth in another Chevrolet.
