Jones Records Fast Time During Martinsville Qualifying

Brandon Jones will start Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway from pole position in his No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet.

The 27-year-old recorded a 19.694-second lap time (96.151 mph) at the 0.526-mile track on Friday, which was fastest of the 38 cars that participated in qualifying. Jones will be joined on the front row by Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer, who qualified second in his No. 00 Ford with a 19.757-second lap (95.845 mph). 

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Sheldon Creed was third, with Jordan Anderson Racing’s Jeb Burton fourth and JRM’s Justin Allgaier fifth. Aric Almirola, Anthony Alfredo, Ryan Sieg, Sam Mayer and Austin Hill completed in the top 10.
