Elliott Claims Pocono Xfinity Series Pole

LONG POND, Pa. — Chase Elliott’s second NASCAR Xfinity Series start of the season will begin from the pole Saturday afternoon at Pocono Raceway.

Driving the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, Elliott turned a lap of 54.209 seconds at 166.024 mph during qualifying Saturday morning at the 2.5-mile triangle race track.

It was his first pole of the season and the third of his Xfinity Series career.

Brandon Jones qualified second in a Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

Nick Sanchez was third in the No. 48 Chevrolet, while William Sawalich in another JGR Toyota and Ryan Sieg in his own Ford completed the top five.

Sam Mayer, Taylor Gray, point leader Justin Allgaier, Connor Zilisch and Jesse Love made up the second five.
