MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Connor Zilisch has undergone surgery on his broken collarbone suffered when he fell from his car at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) Int’l.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series driver made the announcement on social media Tuesday afternoon.
“Wanted to give everyone a quick update. Had surgery on my collarbone this morning to get a plate and screws to help with the healing process,” Zilisch said. “Been a tough few days for me mentally, but all the love you guys have shown has certainly helped. Thank you.”
Zilisch was celebrating winning his sixth race of the season when he fell to the ground and was attended to by medics. The resultant injury kept him out of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at The Glen.
The next race on the Xfinity Series schedule is Aug. 22 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
