SEALED UNDER PRESSURE: Bubba Wallace Wins At Indy

When the pressure was on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bubba Wallace was up to the task.

With his fuel allotment running dry in his 23XI Racing Toyota, Wallace had to hold off 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson on consecutive overtime restarts to win the Brickyard 400.

Wallace was far ahead of the field with six laps remaining when rain fell on a portion of the 2.5-mile speedway, leading to a rain delay.

The race headed to overtime, increasing the anxiety for Wallace and crew chief Charles Denike. The first restart came on Lap 162, with Wallace starting on the inside and Larson on the outside. Wallace pulled ahead in Turn 2, but the caution flag waved for a crash.

That set up a second overtime restart on lap 167. Wallace blasted away from Larson on the final restart and romped to the biggest victory of his career and a spot in the Cup Series playoffs.
