Winning his second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chase Briscoe has suddenly made himself a player in the Chase for the championship.
However, Briscoe didn’t emerge on the scene by himself, his Joe Gibbs Racing pit crew had a lot to do with his victory in the Bank of America 400.
Briscoe was chasing leader Christopher Bell when the yellow flag waved on lap 205. Briscoe’s No. 19 team did its job in the pits and Briscoe returned to the track as the leader for the lap-211 restart.
Briscoe took things from there, leading the final 61 laps of the 1.5-mile track, holding off Bell in a wild battle for the lead to win for the second consecutive week and the third time this season.
As a result, Briscoe is fourth in the standings, 65 points behind championship leader Kyle Larson with four races remaining.
