Cam Waters Set For Cup Series Debut At Sonoma

After two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series oval races this year, Repco Australian Supercars Series star Cam Waters is set for his NASCAR Cup Series debut next month.

On Tuesday, RFK Racing announced Waters as their latest driver for their Stage 60 program at Sonoma Raceway in California. Stage 60 is RFK’s third entry for one-off races throughout the season.

David Ragan piloted the No. 60 Ford in the season-opening Daytona 500.

“This opportunity for me is a dream come true and one that I do not take lightly given the global audience of NASCAR and the Cup Series,” Waters said. “I’ve been fortunate to dip my toes into the NASCAR waters a bit this year and am excited to put my road-racing experience to the test this summer. It takes a village to make something like this come to fruition.”

In two starts with ThorSport Racing, Waters has a best result of 19th at Kansas Speedway earlier this month. He made his first career Truck Series start at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, where he finished 30th.

Waters is a 10-time Supercars winner. The 29-year-old Australian sits 15th in the standings with two pole positions.   Watch the Repco Australian Supercars series LIVE on SPEED SPORT 1.  Click HERE to get the app or find SPEED SPORT 1 on your TV.
