Busch Family Says Two-Time Champ Died Of Pneumonia

CONCORD, N.C. — According to a statement released by Kyle Busch’s family on Saturday, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion died from complications of pneumonia.

Busch, 41, died on Thursday after having become severely ill while testing in the Chevrolet simulator the previous day.

“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” the statement said. “The Family asks for continued understanding and privacy during this difficult time.”
