DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Ben Rhodes nipped ThorSport Racing teammate Ty Majeski to win the pole for Friday night’s Fresh From Florida 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
Rhodes, the last driver to hit the track during the final round of qualifying featuring the fastest 10 drivers from the first round, turned a lap of 50.995 seconds at 176.488 mph to land his sixth career pole and lead Friday night’s field.
It is Rhodes’ first pole at Daytona and he will be the 23rd different driver to lead a Truck Series field at Daytona.
Majeski, the reigning series champion, was just a tick behind with a lap of 51.009 seconds.
Corey Heim was third in his TRICON Garage Toyota machine, while Chevrolet driver Grant Enfinger claimed the fourth starting spot.
A third ThorSport driver, Jake Garcia, rounded out the top five qualifiers.
Chandler Smith, Dawson Sutton, Kaden Honeycutt, Clay Greenfield and Johnny Sauter completed the second five.
