WELCOME, N.C. — Action sports legend Travis Pastrana will climb behind the wheel of Kaulig Racing’s No. 25 Ram 1500 in the May 22 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of Ram’s Free Agent Driver Program.
Pastrana, a motorsports icon known for his fearless style and boundary-pushing performances, brings a unique blend of rally, motocross and extreme sports experience to the truck.
The 41-year-old has made approximately 50 NASCAR appearances over the years, highlighted by an 11th-place finish in his Daytona 500 debut in 2023 and a strong 10th-place result in the 2013 season-opener at Daytona in what is now the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. He also recorded four top-10 finishes during a part-time 2012 and full 2013 campaign in the O’Reilly Series.
“I love racing and competing at everything, and NASCAR is one of the biggest and most competitive stages on earth,” said Pastrana. “Having the opportunity to hop in the No. 25 Ram truck with Kaulig Racing through the Free Agent Program is an amazing opportunity. These Ram 1500s are so much fun to drive. We’re going to go out there, put on a show for the fans and see what we can do.”
Born in Annapolis, Md., Pastrana rose to fame through the X Games, where he became one of the most decorated athletes in history with multiple gold medals in motocross and rally. He transitioned to four wheels with success in the Rally America championship and later competed in the Global Rallycross Championship. Pastrana made his NASCAR debut in 2012. He has made one NASCAR Cup Series start, 42 starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and seven starts in the Truck Series.
Pastrana has built a multifaceted career in entertainment and business. In 2003, he co-founded Nitro Circus, the groundbreaking action sports brand that spawned a hit MTV television series, live tours and films including the 2012 3D feature “Nitro Circus: The Movie.”
He has served as executive producer on multiple projects, including documentaries and stunt-filled productions that showcase extreme athleticism. His media work has reached millions worldwide through television, digital content and touring shows, while his entrepreneurial ventures — such as the launch of the Nitrocross rallycross series — reflect his success in turning passion for adrenaline into thriving businesses.
The No. 25 Ram 1500 serves as the flagship entry for Ram’s Free Agent Driver Program. Launched as part of the manufacturer’s return to NASCAR after a 13-year absence, the innovative initiative rotates a different driver into the truck nearly every weekend.
It features a mix of veteran stars, rising talents, road-course specialists, dirt-track standouts, and other available drivers to deliver fresh storylines, broaden fan interest and provide opportunities for proven competitors and up-and-coming talent.
The program kicked off at the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway in February with NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart behind the wheel and has since included drivers such as Ty Dillon, Colin Braun, Corey LaJoie, Parker Kligerman, A.J. Allmendinger and Carson Ferguson.
