Norris, McLaren Quick In Abu Dhabi

YAS MARINA, Abu Dhabi — McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri topped the leader board during the second practice session for Sunday’s season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

It was an encouraging sign for McLaren, which hopes to capture the constructor’s championship this weekend.

Norris turned a best lap of one minute and 25.020 seconds to hold the top spot over Piastri, who was .234 seconds behind on the clocks.

Nico Hulkenberg shined with the third-best lap of the session for Haas F1.

Carlos Sainz was fourth for Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton fifth in his final race weekend with Mercedes.

World champion Max Verstappen was 17th after he was one of six drivers (including Piastri) who sat out the first practice session in favor of rookie drivers. Isack Hadjar sat in for Verstappen during the opening session.

Charles Leclerc, who led the opening practice, was sixth in the second Ferrari, but will face a 10-place grid penalty for exceeding Energy Stores allocation.
