Leclerc ‘Not Yet’ Focused On Championship

MONTREAL — Charles Leclerc enters this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve second in the Formula 1 standings.

Still, the Ferrari driver is not ready to consider himself or his team a contender for the world championship.

Leclerc, who won the recent Monaco Grand Prix in his home nation, is 31 points behind point leader Max Verstappen.

“Not thinking about the championship yet, the target is to be able to win races every weekend. We are improving more than anyone else in the last seven or eight months,” Leclerc explained. “We need to keep focusing on the process rather than the outcome. The good outcome will only be the result of hard work.

“We are focusing on our weaknesses and how we can optimize every single aspect of the car. By doing that we will get to the point where we are in contention for the win every single weekend.”
