MISSANO — Marc Marquez rode to his 11th MotoGP triumph of the season in Sunday’s San Marinio Grand Prix at the Marco Simoncelli Misano World Circuit.
Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) grabbed the early lead with Marquez in pursuit.
A mistake came at Turn 8 for the leader. Bezzecchi went wide and that opened the door for the No. 93 to stroll on through to hit the front for the first time on Lap 12.
While Bezzecchi stayed close the rest of the way, Marquez held the lead to secure the victory for Ducati.
“Today I gave it my all. It’s true that the mistake I made in yesterday’s race gave me extra focus, energy, and power,” Marquez said. “I was trying to put pressure on Marco [Bezzecchi] and stay right on him. I thought it would be impossible to do 27 laps without making a mistake. In the end, he made one at Turn 8 and I took the lead. On some laps it was tough, but I managed to get my feeling back. I felt the pressure this weekend because it was super important for Ducati to win both in Mugello and here, the two Italian GPs, so I’m really happy about that.”
Alex Marquez finished third, with Fanco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio completing the top five.
