Hammaker Injured, Out For 250SX East Opener

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. — Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Seth Hammaker will miss the opening round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Eastern Regional Championship in Houston, Texas, following a wrist injury sustained during practice.

Hammaker was on target to contend for the 250SX East title when a crash during a routine practice session resulted in injury. Hammaker consulted medical professionals and it was determined that the injury will force him to miss the Texas round on Feb. 4.

Hammaker, the 2021 Supercross Rookie Of The Year, claimed two consecutive podium finishes at the start of last year’s Western Regional Championship and secured eight top-10 finishes during the AMA Pro Motocross season. The Kawasaki rider carried that momentum into what had been a productive off-season of preparation, prior to this set back.

“It’s of course frustrating to have an injury right before the start of the season,” said Hammaker. “My training has been going really well recently and I feel that my speed and fitness are up to the level needed to race for wins. This injury will set me back a bit, but my full focus is on mending the injury and getting back out there on the track to compete at the highest level.”
