Antonelli Sets The Pace In Belgium

SPA, Belgium — Kimi Antonelli turned the quickest lap during the second free practice session for Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Franchochamps.

The Mercedes wheelman turned a best lap of one minute and 45.944 seconds to edge reigning world champion Lando Norris’ McLaren by a mere .190 seconds.

Antonelli, who leads the Formula 1 standings by 25 points heading into this weekend, occupied top spot for much of the session, which was red-flagged twice due to gravel on track and a late crash by Pierre Gasly.

Despite rain showers hitting the Spa-Francorchamps circuit between Friday’s two one-hour sessions, FP2 was held on a completely dry track.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was third best on the day, with Lewis Hamilton fourth for Ferrari.

Verstappen’s teammate, Isack Hadjar, was fifth with Oscar Piastri sixth in the second McLaren.
