SPIELBERG, Austria — Kimi Antonelli finished fastest during Friday afternoon’s second practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix.
The 19-year-old Mercedes driver showed an advantage over the McLaren teammates — Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris — who were second and third on the time sheets.
After the championship leader led the field during the first practice session, the drivers returned to the track for Free Practice 2, anticipating marginally cooler temperatures at the Spielberg circuit.
Antonelli turned a best lap of 1 minute and 7.014 seconds, edging Piastri by .237 seconds. Norris was a tick behind in third.
Max Verstappen went fourth quick for Red Bull, while Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton was fifth.
George Russell was sixth in the second Mercedes.
