Iowa Speedway is the only doubleheader weekend on the NTT IndyCar Series schedule, requiring tremendous endurance and preparation for both the drivers and the crews. This weekend’s events at the seven-eighths-mile short track proved that with both Chevrolet and Honda visiting victory lane in dominant fashion.
Entering Saturday’s 275-lap race, Honda had won all 10 races on the IndyCar schedule this season. That changed in a big way as Chevrolet drivers dominated the event with Arrow McLaren ace Pato O’Ward getting his first victory of the season while the Team Penske trio of Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Scott McLaughlin completed the top four finishers.
Point leader Alex Palou finished fifth Saturday and he made sure there was a role reversal n Saturday as he started from the pole and won for the seventh time in 12 races this season. Scott Dixon and Marcus Armstrong made it a podium sweep for Honda.
