ROSSBURG, Ohio — Giovanni Scelzi has walked away from KCP Racing during one of the highest-profile race weeks of the season.
The World of Outlaws driver has been with KCP Racing since 2020. He announced the news on social media Thursday morning, following a wild flip during Wednesday night’s Double Down Duels at Eldora Speedway.
The event was the first of four nights of racing at Eldora that culminates with Saturday’s $200,000-to-win Kings Royal.
“I have decided to part ways with KCP Racing effective immediately,” Scelzi posted on X Thursday morning. “Thank you to Matt, Bret, and every single one of our partners for an incredible 5 years of racing. They gave me the equipment and people to elevate my career and race with the best competitors in the world. Thank you Adam Clark for being a part of this team since I started in 2020. Not really sure what is next.”
KCP Racing confirmed the move on social media as well.
“Giovanni Scelzi has decided to part ways with KCP Racing effective immediately,” the post read. “Gio has brought our team to new heights since joining in 2020. We appreciate his commitment over the last 5 years and wish him the best.”
Scelzi ranks seventh in the World of Outlaw standings with a single victory this season.
