PERRIS, Calif. — After earning the last two Avanti Windows & Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Championships, R.J. Johnson won the opening night at Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday.
Driving the Petty Performance Racing No. 1P Avanti Windows & Doors / Apache Transport Sherman, Johnson led the last eight laps to score his 12th career win tying Bryan Clauson and Ricky Lewis for sixth overall.
Johnson began the night by posting his 15th career Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award with a time of 16.509 seconds.
David Gasper led the first 22 laps before flipping on lap 23. Johnson inherited the lead and paced the remainder of the 30-lap event on the half-mile dirt track.
Davis finished second, with Austin Williams, A.J. Bender and Connor Lundy following.
