With five 410 winged sprint car races run this past weekend, only one race remains in the season. It will take place Nov. 15 at Pennsylvania’s BAPS Motor Speedway.
With 494 features in the books, David Gravel, who won his 18th feature of the season Friday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte has all but locked up the No. 1 spot in the National Sprint Car Rankings.
Gravel owns an average finish of 2.426 in 69 starts this season, which puts him on top by nearly a full position over Buddy Kofoid, who won his xxth feature of the campaign in Saturday’s World of Outlaws season finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
A sizzling final weekend during the World Finals at The Dirt Track saw High Limit Racing champion Rico Abreu grab a victory and a pair of second-place finishes.
The country’s leading feature winner with 19 triumphs, Abreu is third in the National Sprint Car Rankings with an average finish of 3.549 in 66 races.
Danny Dietrich and Chase Dietz complete the top five.
With only the race at BAPS remaining, all of the regions with the exception of the Eastern region, have concluded competition for the season.
Eight hundred and nine drivers have run at least one 410 winged sprint car feature this season.
Justin Sanders (Western), Anthony Macri (Eastern), Cap Henry (Great Lakes), Joe B. Miller (Mid-America), Ryan Timms (Great Plains), A.J. Flick (PA-OH) and Jesse Schlotfeldt (Northwestern) retained their regional leads.
One hundred and 62 drivers have combined to win 494 features thus far this season.
Abreu leads the country with 19 victories.
