MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa — TKS Motorsports and newly hired Ryan Giles are set to make their team debut in an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series and Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) doubleheader in Iowa on April 1.
Giles will battle on the track at 34 Raceway in West Burlington for a total weekend winner’s share of $7,000, but the team’s main goal for the race weekend is to prepare for the coming season.
The hope is to chase a Knoxville Raceway track championship, which will commence at the speedway’s season opener on April 16.
“It’s been a long winter, but the race season is finally here and I think we are more than ready to hit the track with Ryan Giles this weekend at 34 Raceway,” Troy Renfro said. Renfro is the owner of the TKS Motorsports operation based in Mitchellville, Iowa. “As it is for any team and new driver, we will have some learning to overcome, but we have no doubts that Ryan, as well as his family, will fit right in with our TKS Motorsports family.”
Dubbed the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway will be the team’s point of focus, although Giles will also mix in starts at other nearby staples, including Minnesota’s Jackson Motorplex and South Dakota’s Huset’s Speedway.
“We appreciate the continued support from all of our partners. We would not be here without each and every one of them,” Renfro said. “In addition, we would like to welcome all of our new partners including Albaugh LLC, Iowa Barnstormers, Barron Equipment & Overhead Doors, Hicklin Powersports, Omega Concrete Mixers, United Classic Body & Paint, Mipa Professional Coating System, Lapland Distributing LLC and Serenity Custom Woodworking. We are proud to be associated with all of our new and returning partners, and we will do our part in representing each of them at the highest level.”
The upcoming season will also lead TKS Motorsports to attend a few of sprint car racing’s marquee events, such as the Huset’s High Bank Nationals, the coveted Knoxville Nationals and the Jackson Nationals, with each event sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
TKS Motorsports will conclude their campaign in October with an appearance at I-80 Speedway, alongside the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series.
In total, Ryan Giles and TKS Motorsports are looking to participate in roughly 40 events during the coming season with the intent to expand in 2023.
“I’m looking forward to getting things kicked-off with the TKS Motorsports team this weekend in West Burlington,” Ryan Giles stated, an accomplished 360 sprint racer who finished third in the 2021 Knoxville Raceway 360 standings. “I’m thankful for the opportunity Troy and Tammy have given me and I’m excited to further my career in the 410 class. Troy has our car ready to go. It’s going to be a fun season.”
