Reutzel Leads American Sweep At Bunbury

By Darren O’Dea

BUNBURY, Australia — It was an all-American lockout in the feature race in front of a capacity crowd at Bunbury Speedway on Saturday night.

Aaron Reutzel won the 30-lap feature race from Carson Macedo and Cole Macedo in round 6 of the 8 night Speedweek series, which was also round 11 of the 2025-26 Maddington ToyotaSprintcar Series.

The driver of the Monte Motorsport U17 started from pole position for the first and only appearance of the series this season on the recently-reworked Bunbury surface.

To get to that point he was third quickest in qualifying 2, won his heat race from p2, and won the Revolution Racegear A Dash.

In the final Reutzel was never challenged, taking the lead from the green and despite all the restarts, held on for his first win in six WA outings.

Carson Macedo also claimed his first podium result for the J&S Racing U60, stealing second from brother Cole at the end of the journey after starting from p3.

He was third quickest in qualifying 3, won his heat race from p2 and then was second in the Revolution Racegear A Dash after starting from p4.

Carson was fourth up to lap 18 and when second-placed Brock Zearfoss headed to the work area with rear-end damage and didn’t return, he moved up to third.

At the same time Cole, who was running third in the HighLine Motorsport U40, moved up to second.

Cole started the night by being third quickest in qualifying 1, before winning his heat race, from p2 and then taking second to Zearfoss in the Revolution Racegear B Dash.

Fourth went to Kerry Madsen, who started the Diamond Bay Motorsport W26 from p14, while fifth went to Kaiden Manders, who started fifth in the Dan Golding Racing W71.

Madsen missed the dashes and started from p6 in the Last Chance qualifier, moving up to be second behind Cameron McKenzie.

Defending Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series champion Dayne Kingshott started 10th in the Krikke Motorsport W2 and moved up four spots to take sixth.

He started third and finished fifth in the B Dash and the sixth overall for the night helps his points defence, as well as the eight-night Speedweek points chase.

Jason Kendrick, in the Triple M Kendrick Racing W11, took seventh after earlier in the night having engine issues in qualifying, seeing a new power plant go in.

Starting at the rear of the Last Chance Qualifier, he moved up to fifth, before starting the feature race from p17.

Callum Williamson was also in the wars on the night, being a DNF in his heat and also starting at the rear of the Last Chance Qualifier, where he crashed out.

This put him out of p24 for the final and he finished eighth in the Williamson Motorsport W3.

Ninth went to young gun Mikey Green who started from p6.

He is starting to string together some good results in the W74.

Kris Coyle rounded out the top 10 in the Merger Motorsport W79 after starting from p15.
