TULSA, Okla. — Tuesday’s entry list for Warren CAT Qualifying Night during the 40th annual Chili Bowl Nationals inside the SageNet Center is a solid mix of skilled veterans and up-and-coming challengers.
The lone Chili Bowl champion in the field is John Heydenreich, who captured the coveted victory in 1999, the fourth year of the event.
J.J. Yeley, who has been competing at the Chili Bowl for nearly 30 years, is still chasing the coveted Golden Driller trophy and he will drive one of the potent Rossi Petty entries.
Last year’s Tuesday night preliminary feature winner, Landon Brooks, returns to the Tuesday card, again wheeling a Matt Wood Racing-prepared midget. Brooks was among the stars of last year’s event.
As well, Brenham Crouch, who finished second on Tuesday night last year, will also be in the field this time around, steering a Crouch Motorsports entry.
Knoxville Nationals winner Ryan Timms will be among the favorites as he returns to the seat of the Keith Kunz Motorsports with Curb-Agajanian No. 71 midget.
Up-and-coming stock car racer Gavan Boschele will drive the No. 51 midget fielded by two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, while Joe Gibbs Racing Cup Series driver Ty Gibbs will wheel the No. 84 for CB Industries.
Two-time Chili Bowl feature starter Kaylee Bryson will be aboard the No. 11 for Abacus Racing.
New Zealand midget ace Michael Pickens is back for another shot at the Chili Bowl, while sprint car drivers Sye Lynch, Blake Hahn, Garet Williamson and Parker Price-Miller are also in Tuesday’s field.
Representing the dirt late model world will be Ricky Thornton Jr. and Drake Troutman.
Jonathan Beason, a winner during the recent Tulsa Shootout, and veteran midget ace Zach Daum, who will drive the famed Bondio No. 47x, are also among those to watch on night two.
