Sometimes the decisions made before the start of a race can make all the difference. That was the case Sunday as the Burtin Racing team and driver Adam Andretti raced from the rear of the field to win the inaugural Trans Am Series race at Alabama’s Barber Motorsports Park.
Andretti and the team elected to switch to wet-weather tires before the green flag and had to start at the rear of his class. As the race went on, Andretti’s lap times got faster and faster.
Andretti ran down point leader Paul Menard and took the lead with only two laps remaining en route to his first victory of the season.
