Brabham To Sub For Dyson At COTA

AUSTIN, Texas — With Chris Dyson unable to be in Texas this weekend due to a an emergency appendectomy in his immediate family, CD Racing reserve driver Matthew Brabham will drive the team’s No. 16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang in the Trans Am by Pirelli season finale at Circuit of The Americas.

“I was really looking forward to closing out the season with a win at COTA,” Dyson said. “But family comes first. Thanks to Matty for being available on short notice. He always comes through for us when we need him and I know he will do a great job this weekend.”

Brabham has already taken two wins for CD Racing this year, at Road Atlanta, where he filled in for an injured Dyson, and Mid-Ohio. Combined with Dyson’s three wins this season (Laguna Seca, Road America and Virginia International Raceway) the CD Racing duo has won five of the 11 Trans Am races run to date this season.

Four years ago Brabham also subbed for Dyson at COTA; his win there was the first of his seven TA victories with the organization.

“I’m sorry Chris is unable to be here this weekend,” Brabham said. “But I’m grateful to Chris and CD Racing for this opportunity. I know how to win at COTA and so does the team. With our history over the past four years I know the team and we work well together. They always give me a potential race winner, so I’m aiming for the top step on the podium. It would be great to finish the season with Chris and me together winning half the races.”
