SEBRING, Fla. — The field has been set for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s season opener at Sebring International Raceway.
With qualifying canceled due to rain and lightning, drivers will line up for tomorrow’s event based on practice times posted earlier today.
Matthew Brabham will lead the field to green in the No. 16 Gym Weed Ford Mustang after setting the fastest practice time of 1:58.524.
In this morning’s session, Jim Guthrie (No. 62 Guthrie’s Garage Ford Mustang) was the fastest competitor in TA Cup, putting him first in the class, and Billy Griffin (No. 14 Griffin Auto Care Mercedes Benz AMG GT3) will lead the field to green in XGT. Chris Coffey (No. 97 Traffic Grafix/NAI Racing/GTE Engineering Ferrari 458 Challenge) had the top speed in SGT, while Deric Carter (No. 24 PortableHeist.com Ford Mustang GT 500) will start first in GT.
Jordan Bupp (No. 11 Hamilton Safe & Security Systems Chevrolet) was the fastest of the GT1 Challenge competitors.
Rain also washed out qualifying for the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series season opener. Seventeen-year-old rookie Helio Meza in the No. 28 TeamSLR-M1 Racecars Chevrolet Camaro will lead the field to green after pacing practice with a time of 2:05.869.
Jared Odrick (No. 00 Black Underwear/Helium Mobile Chevrolet Camaro) was the fastest of the Pro/Am Challenge contenders with a time of 2:08.995, which will put him first on the grid for that class.
James Libecco (No. 89 Allied Dermatology/Gunn Dermatology Ford Mustang) will lead the field to green in the inaugural 35-minute TA Sprint race.
