Jake Dennis Tops Sao Paulo Formula E Opener

SAO PAULO, Brazil — Jake Dennis claimed victory in the opening race of the 2025/2026 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on Saturday in the São Paulo E-Prix with Porsche customer team Andretti Formula E.

The former world champion started first for the 30-lap contest, cycling back into the lead after a late Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car intervention and with the aid of his final Attack Mode.

Following a red flag and one-lap shootout, the Briton claimed his first Formula E win since Diriyah in 2024 and on Andretti Team Principal Roger Griffiths’ birthday.

The Porsche Formula E Team came away with a double points finish, the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer entering the season as reigning Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Champion. Factory drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller finished fourth and fifth respectively in the highly efficient Porsche 99X Electric.

By 0.302 seconds over P2 in qualifying, Wehrlein claimed his third São Paulo pole position in a row as well as three points before starting the race from fourth after a three-place grid penalty for a qualifying infringement.

The former world champion circulated towards the front of the field throughout on the 2.933-kilometre street circuit before matching his best result in São Paulo from 2024.

Felipe Drugovich claimed fifth on-the-road in front of his home crowd and in his first race with Andretti, but a post-race penalty for yellow flag infringements dropped him outside the points.

The result means Andretti Formula E and the Porsche factory team sit tied in the Teams’ classification, with Porsche leading the Manufacturers’ classification.
