DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — American Colin Queen has been announced as the winner of Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s Super Trofeo Young Driver Program Shootout and will earn factory support for the 2026 racing season.
The American emerged on the scene during his first season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, racing with ANSA Motorsports, after shifting from junior open-wheel competition into the Lamborghini Super Trofeo ranks. Alongside Enzo Geraci, the 2025 top Super Trofeo Junior Driver, the pairing scored two podium finishes in Super Trofeo North America Pro, including on the final weekend of the year as part of the Lamborghini World Final at Misano Adriatico in Italy.
That World Final weekend was the precursor to Lamborghini’s annual end-of-year assessment and shootout at Misano, featuring 16 Super Trofeo and four GT3 drivers which were shortlisted.
Through a combination of excellent practice, qualifying and race simulations, on-track etiquette, post-weekend driver reports and technical feedback with engineers and Squadra Corse staff, Queen emerged as the top performing driver from the shootout.
“My first season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo and GT racing has been an incredible experience,” Queen said. “Being named the winner of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Young Driver Program makes it even more meaningful.
“From the start, my goal has been to earn a factory seat with Lamborghini. The shootout is the first step, but the hard work continues. I’m focused on what’s ahead and I’m highly motivated to showcase both my sporting and technical capabilities. Beyond what I’ve already achieved in the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, I can’t wait to see what’s coming with Lamborghini’s new Temerario. A new car means new opportunities and the potential to test soon would be incredible!
“I have the utmost gratitude towards Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The Young Driver Program pushed me to perform both on and off the track and has prepared me for that next level.”
For the shootout, Queen was joined by Super Trofeo North America teammate – and 2024 shootout winner – Geraci as well as rival Elias de la Torre (USA). Also taking part were Super Trofeo Asia competitors Charles Hon Chio Leong (Macau), Alex Denning (Ireland) and Ethan Brown (Singapore) and European series drivers Anthony Pretorius (South Africa) and Guido Luchetti (Italy).
Queen is no stranger to overcoming adversity. The Californian was born with a congenital heart defect and had three early-life open-heart surgeries. But through hard work and clearance from doctors, Queen has pursued his career by leaps and bounds.
It includes moving abroad to race in Europe through Formula Ford, GB4 and GB3 seasons before coming back Stateside to race in Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Queen is set to return for his sophomore season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America in 2026 and contend for the championship aboard the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2.
“The YDP has provided many drivers the platform on which to build their professional careers, whether with Lamborghini or elsewhere, and we are proud to continue developing drivers of the future through our assessments and shootouts,” said Rouven Mohr, Interim Head of Motorsport, Automobili Lamborghini. “Looking at the 2025 winners, I want to extend my congratulations to Colin Queen and Hugo Cook (top GT3 Junior Driver), both of whom excelled in their assessment and in the end-of-year shootout, against strong competition.”
